Wishing you a bear-y Merry Christmas

Food and drink, Shopping, Travel tips,

There's a little extra cheer in the festive atmosphere this Christmas with the return of our beloved Doris and Edward. The airport may seem a little busier in the lead-up to Christmas as everyone reconnects with loved ones around the world, but we want you to have the smoothest, simplest journey through the airport while enjoying all the paw-some festive fun within the terminal walls. So, follow the bear's lead for a paw-fectly paws-itive airport experience.

Some seasonal security tips

Travelling through Heathrow during the Christmas period can feel a tad busier than usual, so here are some security tips specific to the season to save you some time and stress.

Put those paw-some, precious presents in your hand luggage – if you're planning to take any valuable or fragile gifts that need a little extra protection, we advise you to put them there to ensure their safe and secure arrival.

Christmas crackers are a big no-no – as fun as they are to pull apart, they are considered explosive, flammable substances that pose a risk to fellow paw-ssengers and crew on board.

Be mindful of weapon-like toys – security in the airport is a serious place, and to avoid any particularly hairy situations, it's best to avoid taking any toys that look like weapons, such as toy guns, slingshots, darts or sports bats or anything else that may be considered dangerous to bring onto an aircraft.

Gift wrap your paw-some presents after security - Wrapped gifts may be viewed as concealed packages and may need to be screened, opened, and searched by airport staff. Save yourself the time and stress by taking advantage of the bear-illiant gift-wrapping services available in the terminals after passing security.
