Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East and resulting airspace closures in the region, a small number of flights at Heathrow have been cancelled or delayed.

Spring is officially in the air, and so are plenty of new travel opportunities. As the seasons shift, Heathrow is unveiling refreshed schedules, brand new airlines, and exciting new routes that make it easier than ever to explore new places from the world’s most connected airport. 

New airlines touching down at Heathrow     

This season welcomes several new airlines that will be bringing fresh routes to Heathrow, expanding global access and offering travellers even more choice.

Alaska Airlines → Seattle, USA 

Alaska Airlines is launching daily flights to Seattle from Terminal 3, opening a smooth link to the US Pacific Northwest. With over half a million passengers travelling through Heathrow to Seattle in 2024, the arrival of Alaska Airlines reinforces our position as a major hub for transatlantic travel. 

  • Launch date: 22 May 2026
  • Frequency: Daily
  • Terminal: 3
  • Fleet: B787-9
Best for: sightseeing iconic landmarks such as the famous Space Needle. Exploring cultural spots and museums and enjoying attractive outdoor areas and neighbourhoods.  
 
Seattle

ITA Airways → Rome, Italy 

ITA Airways is connecting London with Rome’s charm and history with 2 flights a day, offering travellers more choice, flexibility, and availability across peak travel periods. ITA will soon be joining the Star Alliance family in Terminal 2, making it even easier to connect with partner airlines for smoother travel options. Heathrow to Rome is a major travel corridor with over 700,000 passengers in 2024. This new service will continue to position us as London’s key gateway to Europe’s capital cities.

  • Frequency: 2 daily
  • Terminal: 2
  • Fleet: A320
Best for: a strong year-round blend of business travel and leisure tourism. Explore iconic landmarks like the Colosseum and Trevi Fountian or delve into the delightful cuisine of delicious pasta dishes and irresistible gelato.

Pakistan International Airlines → Islamabad & Lahore, Pakistan 

Pakistan International Airlines are offering increased connectivity with direct flights to Islamabad and Lahore. Heathrow plays a major role as the UK’s primary hub for Pakistan-origin travel, with over 170,000 passengers travelling between London and Islamabad in 2019, and being the only UK airport providing direct flights to Lahore. 

  • Launch date: 29 March 2026
  • Frequency: 3 per week to Islamabad and 1 per week to Lahore  
  • Terminal: 4
  • Fleet: B777-300
Best for: visiting friends and family as a strong community-driven route with deep cultural ties to the UK.

New routes taking off this spring

If you’re looking for new destinations to explore, these brand-new routes offer exciting options both near and far.

British Airways → St Louis, USA

British Airways is launching four weekly flights to St. Louis from mid-April, giving travellers new transatlantic options just in time for spring and summer travel. British Airways is the only UK airline offering a direct service to St. Louis, creating a unique connection between the Midwest and London. 

  • Launch date: 19 April 2026
  • Frequency: Four flights per week
  • Terminal: 5
Best for: its culture, history and sports, and iconic attractions like the Gateway Arch, Forest Park, and part of the legendary Route 66 road trip (this year marks the 100th anniversary).
 

British Airways → Tivat, Montenegro 

Tivat in the gorgeous Montenegro is next on the list expanding travel between London and the spectacular Adriatic Sea. The increasingly popular holiday destination welcomed over 2.5 million tourists in 2024, a clear sign of its growing global appeal. 

  • Launch date: 14 May 2026
  • Frequency: Three flights per week
  • Terminal: 3
Best for: travellers seeking –  relaxation on the Adriatic coastline, exploration through dramatic mountain ranges, and discovery in rich cultural heritage. 
 

British Airways → Guersney 

Guernsey becomes the 14th UK and British crown dependency route served directly from Heathrow, highlighting the airport’s role as the UK’s best connected domestic gateway. This gives Guernsey residents one-stop access to over 200 destinations without needing to change airports, making international travel simpler and more seamless.

Best for: those interested in rich history, rugged coastlines, and panoramic cliff paths, making it ideal for hiking  and water activities.

Vueling Airlines → Seville, Spain

Seville becomes the 10th Spanish destination available direct from Heathrow, making it an even better gateway to exploring Spain. This is the first time Vueling Airlines will operate a daily route from Heathrow to Seville, allowing travellers a new year-round option for some stunning Andalusian sunshine.

Best for: vibrant culture, history, architecture, cuisine and warm spring weather. Seville has a vibrant atmosphere and is one of Spain’s most picturesque cities.
