Rail engineering works: 15 & 16 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line train services to Heathrow on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November 2025.

Piccadilly line services from Central London will be running as normal, but these services will be much busier than normal.

Please allow for extra time when making journeys on public transport over the weekend.

Heathrow's your gateway to the World Cup

Maria Asaad
Airlines and routes,
If you're one of the footy fortunate ones that have secured tickets to 2026's World Cup, then Heathrow is your gateway to the variety of host cities across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
You can fly directly to 13 of the host cities from Heathrow, with only three cities not having direct flights. So, whether you want to attend the opening match in Mexico City or the closing game in New York, and any in between, our array of airline partners are ready to jet you off.

Mexico

The 2026 World Cup opening match will take place on Thursday 11th June at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. This is a very fitting tribute to a nation that takes football incredibly seriously, as it is the most widely practised sport among its citizens.

Canada

Fly into Toronto or Vancouver to attend World Cup matches in these two popular Canadian cities. This summer, 46 weekly flights departed from Heathrow, flying to Toronto, and 19 weekly flights to Vancouver. With such frequent flights to both major cities, there is plenty of choice to suit your schedule.

Both cities have a history of hosting major sporting events. Toronto hosted football matches during Canada's first World Cup appearance in 1957, and Vancouver was a host city for the Canadian Women's World Cup in 2015.

USA

There are regular flights to New York from London, with 31 daily departures from Heathrow to New York City airports, JFK and Newark. Heathrow also flies to 31 other US destinations, including 10 of the 11 World Cup host cities.

Below is the complete list of destinations and airlines you can fly directly from Heathrow to be a part of the action.
