Heathrow rail engineering works: 16 & 17 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services to or from Heathrow on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November.

Piccadilly line services will be running as normal on both days.

Passengers should plan their journeys before travelling, and allow for additional time where necessary as trains that are running will be much busier than normal.

Wander along The Freedom Trail

An absolute must-do in Boston is taking a leisurely stroll along the Freedom Trail and discovering some of the best spots Boston has to offer along the way.

The 2.5-mile trail passes by some of the most significant and historical spots in Boston, such as the Massachusetts State House, Park Street Church and the Boston Common. These are just some of the key places you’ll pass on the scenic stretch.

The path is marked with a red line that you can easily follow at your own pace, or you can join a walking tour if you’d like a deeper dive into each stop along the way.

Explore the Back Bay district

If you want to feel like a real Bostonian, then this a something you have to do during your time in the city. This quaint, little neighbourhood is lined with independent stalls and shops, especially on the famous Newbury Street.

The area is also filled with a tonne of delicious restaurants and cafes, some offering the best-tasting seafood on the East Coast. Their specialty in Boston is clam chowder and lobster rolls, so make sure to give both a try if you are a shellfish lover!

If you’d prefer to see some sea life in action, then book a catamaran whale-watching tour to see some incredible finbacks, humpbacks and minke whales, as well as dolphins. It is another amazing activity to do during your time in Boston.

Stroll through Acorn Street

Located very close to Boston Common, Acorn Street is a stunning place to take a walk while in the city. It is one of the most photographed places in the city and is reminiscent of colonial Boston.

The pretty cobbled street gives resemblance to streets in the UK such as Cambridge or the Cotswolds, with its unique and charming character.

It doesn’t take long to walk down and appreciate, so it can be done quite easily and quickly during a day out exploring in Boston. It is worth a visit if you’re after that picturesque Instagram shot!

Enjoy the great outdoors at Boston Public Garden

If you’d like to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and get some peace and quiet, then take a day out of your stay to enjoy Boston Public Garden. It is famous for being the very first botanical garden in America and is filled with beautiful exotic trees and colourful flowers.

For an extra-cute activity, take a ride on one of the swan boats available for hire and get an even better tour of the stunning grounds.

This is the ideal way to spend a more relaxed and chilled day in the city, while still getting the opportunity to explore one of the best scenic places that Boston has to offer.
