  • Welcome back

Understandably, you may be anxious or worried about coming to our airport and being around other people. Please be reassured, we have introduced extra measures to help protect you and our colleagues, to give everyone peace of mind. So let us show you what we have in place and what might be different from the last time you came to Heathrow.

We are stopping at nothing to keep the airport spotless and our team of cleaners is working around the clock to sanitise our common areas and toilets. We are using fogging techniques on seats and trollies and we have modified the air conditioning to eradicate polluted air. There are over 600 hand sanitiser dispensers across Heathrow which we fill regularly and we have marked on the maps for you.

    Face Coverings

Face coverings are now mandatory for all colleagues and passengers aged 11 or older. Please come prepared with your own face covering but we will have some available if needed. There may be times when we ask you to lower your face covering for security checks and our colleagues will guide you.

    Social Distancing

The latest advice in the UK is to keep a safe distance we have signs and floor stickers to help you keep your distance. We recommend the length of a baggage trolley to help with maintaining a good distance.

    Touchless and contactless experience

If you are still nervous about touching surfaces, you can top up your reusable bottles at touchless water refill stations. All our shops and restaurants accept contactless payment.

At check-in and ticket desks, as well as counters in shops and restaurants, there are screens so that your contact is kept to a minimum. Don’t forget you can carry out most transactions on your phone or you can download the Heathrow app where you can check your flight or even pre-order food online (from 1 July).

    Quarantine / Self Isolation

If you are flying in or returning to the UK, don’t forget you will need to self-isolate for 14 days. You can pre-register with Border Force here

    More innovation on its way

We are trialling body temperature screening using thermal cameras in Terminal 2 Immigration Hall and the main departures area, as well as Terminal 5 departure area (Zone H). This is part of our drive towards a common international standard. We have gone back to the future by using robots to shine a UV light to highlight contaminated areas and which then clean to hospital standards.
