ULEZ expansion - 29 August 2023

London's Ultra Low Emission Zone, or ULEZ, is expanding to encompass all of Greater London, including Heathrow Airport, from the 29 August 2023.

The initiative, implemented by Transport for London (TfL), is aimed at reducing air pollution in London, therefore all vehicles entering the airport must meet certain emissions standards in order to avoid paying a daily charge.

The daily charge for non-compliant vehicles is £12.50 for most vehicles, including cars, vans, and motorcycles.

The charge will be in addition to any other fees or charges associated with entering the airport. The charge only applies when a vehicle is driven within the ULEZ zone, and does not apply to stationary vehicles including when cars are parked at Heathrow.

Please note, if you have booked Meet & Greet or Valet Parking with a non-compliant vehicle, and have selected a different exit terminal to your entry terminal, you will be liable for payment of a ULEZ charge to transfer your vehicle to another terminal.

The Future Leaders Graduate Programme provided me with continuous growth, fulfilment and maturity resulting in me leading and managing large projects.

Challenging projects varied by placement; yet the ultra-professional, caring, environment increased my self-confidence, and enabled me to find myself and much more. My placements saw me engaged in numerous projects; initially implementing improvements in the manner we capture passenger feedback and using that data to tangibly advance the passenger experience. The pandemic coincided with my last placement and I was able to work in our operational readiness team helping to temporary consolidate terminals and manage the movement of airlines from one terminal to another. This demonstrated to me that no matter what is happening around us, we all come together at Heathrow to get things done.

Working within this dynamic and innovative establishment; my personal development has accelerated. The graduate programme has educated, elevated and excited me with its sustainability ethos that influences efficiency and effectiveness. Simultaneously exemplifying diversity and inclusivity, the beating heart of Heathrow, I have thrived and proudly and naturally assume the responsibility as a forerunner to others.

My greatest achievements whilst on the scheme were completing my APM Project Management Qualification and being able to complete my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and become a DofE business champion! Heathrow refined, enhanced, and redefined me while always respectful of my culture and character. The programme has been the opportunity to network with people company wide and beyond and together with experiencing colleagues at all levels selflessly supporting and investing time in me.

The graduate scheme set me up for success and that is truly demonstrated in my everyday working life post scheme. Since completing the scheme, I have undertaken two roles which differ greatly but the scheme provided me with adaptability to be able to take on different challenges and roles. Currently I am the Assistant Sponsor for Major Surface Access Projects, where I lead on the project ownership and stakeholder engagement for different transport related projects at Heathrow.
