Heathrow's #AvGeek of the Month for October is Kingsley Lee.
We’ve caught up with Matt to find out more about his passion and love for aviation.
Name: Matt Carter
Where are you from: Wiltshire
I would say all three. A spotter with a HUGE passion for aviation, with the moments captured by photography.
I have been interested in aviation for as long as I can remember. From childhood memories watching Concorde take off, to flying regularly with airlines like Britannia Airways and Monarch. From the moment I stepped on board, to looking out over the clouds, it has always stayed with me... I guess you could say it was love at first flight!
Today, I enjoy trying out new and old aircraft types and try fly whenever I can, spotting at airports across the UK and Europe and meeting new avgeeks who share the same passion as I do.
Heathrow has always been a special place to me. From the huge variety of airlines that fly in and out of the airport, to the impressive selection of aircraft types that visit.
A day flying or spotting from Heathrow is never the same as you always see something new, whether that be a new aircraft type, airline livery or inaugural flights like the Qantas Dreamliner connecting the UK and Australia, with the first non stop flight. It truly has an international feel.
This is a tough one, but currently there is a clear winner... The British Airways Retro jets. This has been a huge hit and is something exciting as well as seeing the Queen of the skies, the Boeing 747 in BOAC and Landor colours again is truly spectacular.
