Noise Action Plan 2019-2023 public consultation
16 May 2018
Today we have launched a public consultation on Heathrow’s draft 2019-2023 Noise Action Plan which sets out how Heathrow plans to manage and reduce the impact of aircraft noise over a five-year period.
There are a number of draft actions within the plan that we are seeking feedback on, many of these have evolved from the previous plan and have been developed alongside community groups through the Heathrow Community Noise Forum, airlines and other stakeholders.
Some of the actions we are proposing include the implementation of our Quiet Night Charter, a new noise insulation strategy and a review of our charging structure that provides incentives to our airlines.
The consultation will run for 6 weeks, from the 16 May - 26 June. Feedback received will help us refine and shape the Noise Action Plan and we will produce a summary report of what we have learned.
We are holding three public consultation events at the Heathrow Academy (Newall Road, Hayes, TW6 2AP) on the following dates:
• Saturday 2 June, 10am-4pm
• Wednesday 6 June, 2pm-8pm
• Saturday 23 June, 10am-4pm
Highlights of the current 2013-2018 NAP include the launch of our Fly Quiet and Green league table in 2013 which incentivises airlines to use their quietest aircraft and best operational practices, trials of steeper climb and slightly steeper approaches and the establishment of the Heathrow Strategic Noise Advisory Group (HSNAG) and the Heathrow Community Noise Forum (HCNF), which bring together industry and local stakeholders to help shape our approach to noise management.
More information, including how to respond to the consultation, and a downloadable copy of the draft plan is available on our consultation website www.heathrowconsultation.com/NAP
