Rail engineering works: 15 & 16 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line train services to Heathrow on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November 2025.

Piccadilly line services from Central London will be running as normal, but these services will be much busier than normal.

Please allow for extra time when making journeys on public transport over the weekend.

Heathrow power outage

A message from Chief Executive, Thomas Woldbye regarding the Heathrow power outage

By Heathrow
Yesterday we took a decision no airport ever wants to make – to close for a period. We understand the impact this had on our passengers, our airlines, my colleagues and the wider community.
This was not a decision we took lightly.  The scale of the fire at an off-airport power substation was significant, impacting a large area of West London. It is inevitable that an incident of this magnitude would affect our operations. I hope people will understand all our decisions and actions were to ensure the safety of our passengers and colleagues.
My colleagues, our partners and the emergency services have worked tirelessly to ensure a speedy recovery, and within 24 hours Heathrow’s operation has returned to business as usual.
The level of work and detail to get a business the size of a city to this point within such a short turnaround is a credit to the teams who were involved and the resilience plans we have in place.
Throughout this incident, our priority has remained the safety and security of our passengers and colleagues and this will continue to lead all the decisions we make.
I would like to thank our passengers for their patience yesterday and apologise for the inconvenience they faced. I’d also like to thank all the individuals who have supported getting our operation up and running this morning.

Thomas Woldbye
Chief Executive, Heathrow Airport
