Travel Advisory: Terminal 3 Car Park Incident

The incident at the multi storey car park in Terminal 3 has now been contained by the Metropolitan Police. Congestion remains on surrounding roads following the incident which we are working hard to resolve as quickly as possible and we are advising passengers to use public transport. There will be an increased police presence at Heathrow Airport to maintain the safety of people in the area and reassure the public.

Due to operations shrinking at Heathrow amid COVID-19 travel restrictions, wildlife including birds are visiting the airport more frequently, posing a potential threat to aircraft operations and safety.

In response to this, we have increased our wildlife monitoring and dispersal methods to ensure that the airport is safe for repatriation and cargo flights still operating to help bring in vital medical equipment. Our team is committed to minimising the use of loud dispersal techniques during unsociable hours, but regret that this is not always possible. For the next two weeks, we will be conducting dispersal methods in the evening at the south of the airfield where we are seeing birds come into roost at night.
