Due to operations shrinking at Heathrow amid COVID-19 travel restrictions, wildlife including birds are visiting the airport more frequently, posing a potential threat to aircraft operations and safety.

In response to this, we have increased our wildlife monitoring and dispersal methods to ensure that the airport is safe for repatriation and cargo flights still operating to help bring in vital medical equipment. Our team is committed to minimising the use of loud dispersal techniques during unsociable hours, but regret that this is not always possible. For the next two weeks, we will be conducting dispersal methods in the evening at the south of the airfield where we are seeing birds come into roost at night.
