Shaped by decades of analysis and years of engagement.
In 2019, Heathrow held a public consultation on our expansion plans. This feedback is being used to help define the proposals. We currently remain in the pre-application phase of a Development Consent Order (DCO), the same position as 2020.
Later in 2026 we plan to hold another public consultation, inviting further comments on our proposals.
Heathrow expansion will increase capacity, lower air fares and unlock routes that will benefit the whole of the UK.
We are committed to being a good neighbour and take our responsibilities to local communities and residents seriously.
As part of the proposed changes, we’ll reroute part of the M25, including building a new tunnel and bridges, while keeping motorists moving. We’ll aim to maintain traffic flow and minimise disruption during construction, with changes introduced in phases where needed.
