Travelling to Heathrow over Christmas & New Year

On Christmas Day (Thursday 25 December) and Boxing Day (Friday 26 December), there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services operating between Central London and Heathrow.

Heathrow Express trains will be running between all terminals, departing every 20 minutes.

Additionally, there will be no Piccadilly line services from London to Heathrow on Christmas Day, and a limited service will be running on Boxing Day.

Special timetables and Sunday services will be in operation across most public transport over the Christmas and New Year period. We recommend planning your journey and allowing for extra time where necessary.

2025 proposals

Our submission document

We welcome the Government’s continued commitment to expanding Heathrow.

The Government has announced that after reviewing proposals put forwards for the third runway at Heathrow, they will be confirming the single scheme to deliver expansion in November.

Our plans will create an airport that is fit for the future, enabling the quality service that global passengers expect, open up exciting new routes and unlocking benefits for the whole of the UK.

Our proposals submitted to the Government in July are not a formal planning application. Subject to a green light from Government, our proposal – backed by Chambers of Commerce, businesses, airports and trade unions across the UK – is ready to be fully mobilised.

Our plan builds on decades of economic evidence, shaped by years of consultation and engagement with airlines and our local communities. And it has been updated to reflect the needs of the country today.

It has never been more important or urgent to expand Heathrow. We are uniquely placed to do this for the country; it is time to clear the way for take-off.
