Heathrow Authorised Vehicle Area (AVA)

Dedicated area for drivers of private hire vehicles and licensed taxis

The Authorised Vehicle Area (AVA) is a waiting area for private hire cars and licensed taxis.

Drivers can wait in the AVA before picking up from car parks or meeting in agreed terminal locations.

The AVA is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Facilities include vending machines, hot refreshments, a covered smoking area, toilets and bins.

AVA FAQs

Access is for authorised Private Hire Operators and their vehicles only.

A valid Private Hire Operator’s licence or licensed taxi operator licence is needed. You must show your licence on request to staff or the police.

Heathrow's AVA is located on the Northern Perimeter Road. The entrance is clearly signposted.

Using the AVA costs £1.00 an hour for the first five hours. Any additional time is charged at the same rate as Heathrow's Terminal Parking car parks.

You don't need to pre-book to use the AVA. Payment can be made by:

  • The APCOA Connect App
  • At pay-on-foot machines in the AVA, by credit or debit card.

Pick-ups can be made from our Terminal Parking or Park & Ride car parks.

Terminal Parking car parks are the closest to our terminals. They're perfect for meeting passengers at agreed locations in the terminal.

Park & Ride car parks are connected to the terminals by shuttle buses. Buses pick up from right outside the terminals.
