Heathrow's 70th anniversary
Heathrow celebrated its 70th anniversary on 31 May 2016 and we marked the occasion with 70 commemorative plaques, which you can still see around the airport. The actress Joanna Lumley, who turned 70 the same month, unveiled her very own plaque. The other 69 show you locations of events including the Beatles being met by thousands of screaming fans in the 1960s, and where Queen Elizabeth II set foot in the UK for the first time as its monarch.
