    Seminars

Our first seminar of the year focused on actions being taken for cleaner air. Session 1 began with a presentation from Dr Bruno Veigas from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) who elaborated on the Government’s Clean Air Strategy, which was published in January 2019. This was followed by an update by Catherine Westoby from Transport for London on the introduction of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in Central London which started on 8 April. Guy Hitchcock from Ricardo Energy & Environment then gave a progress report on Clean Air Zones in other cities and Dan Hayes from the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) presented updated Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS) guidance.

In session 2, we heard from Heathrow colleagues, Neil Pritchard and Simon Grant. Neil outlined Heathrow’s Airside ULEZ and infrastructure, while Simon discussed Heathrow’s Other Regulated Charges. We also launched the CVP Awards and set out other key activities in the 2019 Clean Vehicles Partnership (CVP) programme.
