    Each year Heathrow commissions annual maps providing information on the number of arrivals and departures by easterly and westerly operations. Four sets of maps are produced and are broken down into the following areas:

    Map information

    Each map contains the following information:
    Number of days 100% easterly/westerly - the number of days Heathrow operated on purely easterly/westerly operations for a whole day. Number of ‘mixed days' - the number of days when there was a mixture of easterly and westerly operations in the same day

    Arrivals
    This information specifically relates to arrivals on the northern (27R/09L) or the southern runway (27L/09R) only – and not the numbers/percentage of aircraft arriving from the north or south of Heathrow. Average daily arrivals- the average number of arrivals that landed on the specified runway (this figure specifically relates to the mode of operation e.g. easterly or westerly operations). Days with no arrivals- the total number of days where no arrivals landed on the specified runway. Total annual arrivals- the total number of arrivals that landed on the specified runway in the given year% of all westerly/easterly arrivals- the % of arrivals that landed on the specified runway as a % of the mode of operation e.g. easterly or westerly operations.

    Departures
    This information for departures is broken down by each of the six departure routes (Standard Instrument Departure routes or SIDs). Average daily departures - the average number of departures using the specified departure route (this figure specifically relates to the mode of operation e.g. easterly or westerly operations)Total annual departures - the total number of departures using the specified departure route in the given yearPercentage of all departures - the % of departures using the specified route as a % of the total number of departures including easterly and westerly operations% of all westerly/easterly departures - the % of all departures using the specified route – specific to the mode of operation e.g. easterly or westerly operations
