We’ve caught up with Ugochukwu to find out more about his career at Heathrow Airport.

A day in the life Q&A:

    SInce September 2017.

    Interesting - Fresh - Dynamic

Since starting I’ve had a number of different shifts, alongside the normal 9-5. My role consists of a few days of being at the desk, project work, shadowing different colleagues, training, visiting universities for career fairs, leading sessions and presentations. I’m currently leading a project in the rail department.

Every day is different, hence why I describe Heathrow as dynamic. There is also the ability to move around and explore different roles, giving you the chance to learn and challenge yourself.

Be ready to adapt as Heathrow is ever changing and developing, but also be ready to be part of that change and add your own input as the future is made on new ideas.

It’s too difficult to choose one, but airside, the tunnels and the workshop are all amazing spots!

I’ve had a couple great moments… I have enjoyed all the events with the Graduates during induction and beyond, but the two outstanding ones were: a night shift under HEX which involved observing the re-railing of the track and the second was spending the day with the Airside Engineering Team where I had the chance to see the Concorde and watch different aircraft taking off and landing.

I enjoy playing sports, football, basketball and table tennis in particular. I also enjoy creative writing, cooking, debating and trying new things.

I do something called bead-making, which involved making hand-crafted beaded things. I also write and have performed poetry and spoken-word.
