I’ve worked at Heathrow for 5 years.
Unique – Unpredictable – Chaos (in a good way!)
A day in the life of an Airport Operations Manager can vary dramatically. I coordinate and lead incident response teams across APOC from aircraft operations to terminals and security to ensure that we’re all working as one team. Throughout the day, I’ll regularly work with the APOC team as well as external partners such as the Metropolitan Police, Border Force, and the Met Office, to keep our airport operational no matter what surprises that may come our way.
The thing I enjoy most about life at Heathrow is the unpredictability of each day and the relationships we have as a team – everything seems easier when we’re all in it together.
Talk to someone who works here already and I can guarantee you’ll see the passion they have for the airport. Then, take that step and apply for that role – you won’t regret it! There are so many opportunities here at Heathrow that there’s something for everyone.
The Air Traffic Control Tower has to be the best spot for taking photos but on most days it’s the APOC roof! Some of our remote stands also have awesome views of the runway for those take-off or landing shots.
My favourite moment while working at Heathrow to date is probably joining the Airport Operations Manager team. It’s been a dream of mine whilst I was at University and to actually be doing it has been surreal.
Apart from photography, I like to travel. When I’m not travelling, I like climbing and swimming or trying out new recipes!
Baking! I’m told my cakes and treats are comparable to Mary Berry!
Our Social Media and Airport Communications teams are working together to co-ordinate the series and share these great Heathrow moments with the over 1 million followers across the airport’s official channels!
