Our dedicated procurement teams use their expert knowledge of the market to identify the best suppliers from which to purchase works, goods and services, then manage the tendering and negotiation process to appoint and manage those suppliers.
Heathrow Airport Ltd is no longer bound by OJEU and now uses an eSourcing portal for tendering and publishing the Procurement Opportunity Pipeline. The opportunity list contains details of future tender opportunities, their estimated value, purchasing category, Category Manager details and contract renewal dates which we hope will be of assistance to you.
Naturally our tendering processes and award criteria will be different depending on the type of goods and/or services being procured. However, we will typically award on the basis of most economically advantageous tender with competition being our primary vehicle to demonstrate the delivery of value. Areas that may be looked at when assessing suppliers include:
Health & Safety
Resources (internal and external)
Risk and Value Management
Commercial focus and acceptance of Heathrow T & C’s
Last July the Government’s independent Airports Commission unanimously and unambiguously recommended the expansion of Heathrow and said that it could be done within environmental limits. Following a competitive process Arup, CH2M, MACE and Turner & Townsend have been chosen to work alongside Heathrow Airport Limited to deliver Heathrow’s expansion as partners in the Programme Client.
With the programme’s client partners now on board Heathrow is ready to begin the process of expansion as soon as Government gives the green light.
There will be plenty of future opportunities for suppliers to work with us on Design and Delivery packages on the Expansion Programme and for those suppliers wishing to do so we encourage you to register an interest on our eSourcing portal.
The Heathrow Business Summits are a unique opportunity for SMEs to connect and trade face to face with Heathrow’s supply chain and connect to growth opportunities locally, nationally and internationally.
In 2019, we are holding 11 Business Summits around the UK to ensure every region benefits from supply chain opportunities from expansion. These events provide a unique opportunity for SMEs to connect and trade face-to-face with other SMEs, Heathrow’s supply chain and in partnership with the Department for International Trade, explore exporting opportunities.
The airport spends over £1.5bn annually with more than 1,200 suppliers from around the UK and there will be more work on the horizon with expansion. Construction of the runway will be the UK's largest infrastructure project and small an medium-sized businesses will be critical to delivering the £14bn investment.
The Heathrow Business Summits give SME businesses the chance to have free 15-minute face-to-face appointments with Heathrow’s supply chain, at one-day events taking place across the country.
