We have a range of internship opportunities available, each lasting between 10 and 12 months. Designed to help you develop both personally and professionally, they make ideal university placements and are also suitable for graduates who want to see their careers really take off.

Placements are available in the following areas:

    Gain experience and insight

Whichever area you choose, you’ll get to work on live projects with real responsibility and gain many valuable insights into your department. There will also be opportunities for you to explore the wider airport, shadowing roles across the business and building up your personal brand. It all makes for an extremely varied workload. Day to day, you could be doing anything from getting involved in community projects to presenting to Heathrow’s executive committee.

    Your professional development

The aim of the internship is to help you build a strong foundation for your future career. That’s why we provide a structured learning programme, with carefully tailored objectives and training opportunities that will help you develop quickly and in the right way. It starts on day one with a comprehensive induction to the business. You will then be able to take part in various courses throughout the year on topics such as personal resilience and presenting with impact.

An exciting future ahead of you

To help you make the most of your time with us, we offer ongoing guidance and support alongside lots of opportunities for you to learn from experienced managers and colleagues. And when you reach the end of your programme, the opportunities will just be beginning. There are a huge range of career paths open to you at Heathrow, from the chance to progress onto our Future Leaders Graduate Programme to landing a permanent role within your team.

Our applications are set to close on Monday 25th November at midday.

It begins with an online application, including the opportunity to explore your responses to scenarios which you may come across at Heathrow.

The next step will allow you to demonstrate your numerical, verbal and abstract abilities through a game-based mobile application.

We will conduct a video interview to further explore your behaviours, building upon your online application.

A telephone coaching interview will be the penultimate step in the process, giving you a chance to discuss your experiences so far, explore the role in more detail and consider how to prepare for an assessment centre.

Finally, you will attend an assessment centre based at Heathrow, which will involve a range of activities to explore your strengths and behaviours.

We assess candidates at each stage, and invite those who are successful to the next phase of the process. Full details of each activity will be outlined in detail before each stage. We also make reasonable adjustments at each stage.

Our Internship Programme requires you to be either working towards a degree where you will take a year out and then return to university afterwards, or have graduated from an undergraduate degree by August 2020. You need to be eligible to work in the UK, either as a UK or EU citizen or as the holder of a UK work visa.

In addition, as part of your application you will need to provide references covering the past five years from your current or past employers, university, college or school, accounting for any gaps of two weeks or more, including times when you were out of work or on an extended holiday.

If you are successful in the process you will need to complete a criminal records check and you may need to complete a counter terrorism check depending on the nature of your role.
